img_1617I have come from New Zealand to join EtonHouse at the beginning of the 2009/2010 school year. I have a background as a primary school teacher, principal and as an adviser to schools. In recent times I have worked with schools and the Ministry of Education in New Zealand to develop inquiry learning programmes. I bring a wealth of experience in school administration and the development of effective teaching and learning programmes in classrooms. I am looking forward to the challenge of building on past work with the pre-school programmes, along with establishing the school’s new primary area. I can see a bright future for EtonHouse.

I love to travel and have been to many different countries and am now looking forward to settling into China. My biggest challenge will be learning the language but I’m sure in time I will learn it. I have been teaching for nearly ten years and have qualifications in both primary and early childhood education. I love art and craft and also play the guitar and piano. I love the enthusiasm, spontaneity and creativity that young children have and am looking forward to getting to know the children and families here at this school.

Leanne Clemant – Nursery 1 ‘Dolphins’ Core Teacher

I have twelve years experience working with children from birth to age twelve. I began working as a nanny in many different countries like Sweden, Canada, England and Australia. During 2005 I completed my degree with a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning – Early Childhood after which I worked in many childcare centers, eventually taking on more responsibility and managing them. I am looking forward to my time at EtonHouse learning about the different cultures and sharing my own. I believe that children direct their own learning through play and can teach us as adults so much as well. Our job as teachers is to encourage each child to reach their full potential so they can go out into the world as confident, competent people on life’s journey.

Miss Samantha Zavettori – Nursery 2 ‘Sealions’Core Teacher

l1000298I have been living and teaching in China for three and a half years after living in the United State for one year working as an Au Pair. I have experience working in a Brazilian public school and spent two years in intensive childcare. I consider nursery education to be one of my passions and have been with EtonHouse since May 2007 where I began teaching in Foundation 1, moved on to Foundation 2 and now teach in Nursery. I consider myself to be enthusiastic, dedicated and very creative, always bringing new ideas not only to my own class but other areas of the school as well.

Hina Patel – Reception ‘Sharks’ Core Teacher

l1000297I am from England, UK. I graduated with an Early Childhood Studies Degree and a post graduated certificate in Early Years. I have taught children between the ages of 2-11 in British schools and also taught children with varying Special Educational Needs. During this time I also voluntarily taught in an orphanage in Bolivia. Before coming to China, I was leading the Early Years Foundation stages in a previous post and am currently working towards my Masters in Early Childhood and Practice. I believe one of the most precious things we give children is time; time to listen and time to learn. I hope to create a learning environment which fosters excitement and discovery in learning, whilst giving support to all children to enable them to reach their full potential.

Jannine Strachan – Reception ‘Stingrays’ Class Teacher

l1000274Hi my name is Jannine Strachan and I am from Durban on the East coast of South Africa. I find it very rewarding working with and teaching children of all ages and I have five years teaching experience. Within my first year of teaching I traveled to America where I worked in a Summer Camp catering specifically for special needs adults and children. The remainder of the year I taught 7 to 9 year-old children. For the past four years I have been teaching 6 to 8 year-old children. As the school at which I taught is multicultural, the children in the classes were from very diverse backgrounds and cultures. I thoroughly enjoy interacting with children as they are always open and willing to learn new things. I look forward to my new life in China and all that it has to offer.

After spending 17 years teaching in the Philippines, where my husband and I started the Smart Child Academy, I came to China teaching for one year at Straits Newman School. After graduating from BBC college in Missouri in Education, I continued my studies in ‘individual learning’ with the ACE curriculum in Texas. In 2004 I graduated from the London Institute of TESL training and have been happily married for 34 years, with two adult children and four grand children.

I come from a small town called Ashburton in the South Island of New Zealand. I trained at Dunedin Teacher’s College and have been involved in Education for nearly thirty years. During the last 10 years in Ashburton, I taught at Longbeach Primary School where I was also Deputy Principal teaching 5-6 year olds. I have been working in childhood education for almost nine years and have been at Eton House since September 2007. I have had  experience of being a mandarin teacher but am now the cooperating teach of the first foundation class. I like to listen and play music, especially on the piano, and love to dance. I am really happy in my role at the school as I am able to bring my warmth and caring nature to all the children that I work with.

Sabrina Wan – Parent Liaison

img_1645I am from Jiangxi Province and majored in Maternal and Child Hygiene before training in Singapore for another three years to further my studies. While in Singapore I also obtained an ACCE diploma and have also passed the A Course in Kindergarten Director Qualification. I have over ten years experience working in schools of Dongguan and have been a part of EtonHouse in Dongguan since its opening. I now hold the position of Office Manager and consider myself to be a devoted and committed member of the front end team.

img_1662I am a graduate with an English major: Bachelor of Arts degree with a specialism in English translation. I hold the distinction of English Major Level-8 certificate (TEM-8). I was among the top five percentile of my graduating school and have obtained various academic and social awards. I enjoy bringing my cheerful atmosphere into the office and school. I consider myself to be devoted, efficient and passionate and am now an Administration Officer and Language Consultant, in charge of the office management, as well as acting as a liaison between the school and foreign parents. I am from Dongguan City and I graduated from Jiangmen Education College with a major in English education. I have a teaching certificate in English and have taught at a kinder garden for a year and a half before I joined EtonHouse. I really enjoy working children, and here at EtonHouse I am so happy to be able to greet and welcome every child in the morning at the door. I’ve got to know each child’s name and get along with them very well, which is due to my experience as an English teacher.
